Last Pattern for Tat Days

Here's the last pattern I submitted for Tat Days 2012.

As you all may remember, the tatting community suffered a loss recently when our lovely friend Gina Brummett, the Tatting Goddess, passed away. Gina was a love, a wonderful tatter who was cheery and encouraging to all who had contact with her. So I wanted to do something to honor her.

And this is what I made - the Tatting Goddess Angel. What do you think? She's holding a shuttle, and I've attached some tatting to it in very fine metallic thread. I hope Gina would be pleased.

On home things....

I took Larry for an MRI yesterday and then to the knee guy this morning. And we got some good news! We had been told by two doctors that his injury was likely a torn ACL, which would require surgery and long rehab. Instead, we got the news that Larry dislocated his kneecap. So instead of surgery, he gets a special brace and 6 weeks of physical therapy. So much better!

A young guy with a plain cane has to decorate it!

On Tuesday night, I took Moe to the Fabulous Fox Theater to see the touring 25th anniversary production of Les Misérables. He had the best time! Moe loves the music and has had it on his mp3 player for a long time. We had terrific seats and he was so happy. The Fox is very cool. Above is a view from the balcony, showing the blue ceiling with the lights and clouds above the Moroccan turrets and windows.

While we were there, Moe kept saying to me. "Mom, have I told you how much I love you?" Aww. He's a real sweetie.

Hope you've have had some fun lately!

  1. First, your pattern tribute to Gina is beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. What a lovely thing you've done.

Secondly, I always watch your videos and the Fox looks like something else! I hope someday to have a chance to go to Atlanta instead of just the airport. Thank you for the new thing to look forward to.

  4. Excellent motif and very special tribute to Gina! Just perfect!

Good news about Larry! The other opinions were worrisome.

Great video about the gorgeous Fox Theater. Ironically the Gone With the Wind cast stayed in the hotel across the street from the Fox, but the film premiered at the Loews
Grand which unfortunately burned down in 1978. Glad the Fox is thriving.

  5. LOVE your Tatting Goddess Angel! You did an outstanding job of design - all the elements just flow!

So thankful that Larry's knee isn't as badly damaged as originally thought! Cool cane, Lare!

Moe is quite a sophisticated young man! I don't know that any of my boy cousins, at that age, would have willingly gone to the theatre (unless there was a movie playing).

  6. I love your Tatting Goddess Angel! I think Gina would be pleased. So glad you received good news. I'd take six weeks with a brace over surgery any day. When I first scrolled through the pictures, I thought the cane was a snake... almost dropped my laptop! ; )

  9. The Angel is lovely, and seems just right to commemorate a special lady :-). Glad to hear your son's injury is not as severe as thought...

  10. Lovely Tatting Goddess Angel. Gina must be smiling up in Tatting Heaven. A lovely tribute.
    .
Glad the knee did not need surgery. My younger brother (the MD) always recommends 'not cutting into the envelope' unless absolutely necessary.
    .
Just want to ask how you could resist replying to Moe "I know. Who doesn't", given the previous exchange between the two of you a few days ago.
    .
    Big hugs,
