Funny things and wrap the cat

I was hoping to get you some lovely Spring porn pics today, but the weather is NOT cooperating.  It is kinda dismal and dreary with occasional rain.  I have closed the windows (DH opens the window if the temperature is above 50, ugh) and turned the heat back on. 'Cause I'm cold.  And still sorta sick. Choke. Hack. Gag.

Funny things that happened to me this week:

Twice on the way to work this week, people asked me if I'm a school teacher.  What does a school teacher look like?  I don't know.  I have friends that teach school.  I couldn't do it - certainly not on anything lower than high school or college level.  Not enough patience with other people's children.  (Sorry - it's true.  I am bad.) (At least I haven't chosen this very honorable profession for my own.)  Anyhow, I realized the common element on those days was a necklace that I was wearing.  My mother gave this to me at some point, and I like it.  It has critters on it, and it looks like someone (as opposed to a machine) made it.  Do school teachers tend to wear necklaces with critters?

The other funny happened today.  I was the liturgist at my church service, something I do once every 6 weeks or so.  I like leading the liturgy.  I'm not afraid to get up in front of a group, I have a big voice, and I read expressively.  (At least I'm getting some use from my college voice and diction classes.)  People seem to enjoy it when I'm the liturgist.  I get a lot of positive comments.  And today I got an odd one.  "You should get an agent!" a nice lady called to me as I was leaving the church. "What?" "You could get voice work.  You have a great voice.  You should get an agent!"  I laughed and thanked her kindly.  I'd love to get voice over work, but I don't have the time - or really the talent - to pursue this.  It was a nice complement though...

I do have part of what it takes for voice over work - I have a face for radio!  See, here's my self portrait.  I made this here

I didn't put in my ever present glasses. I am blind as a bat. Really, without the glasses I'm legally blind!  I've worn glasses since 1965. Woo-hoo!

I looked for an interactive Mrs. Potato Head to use for my self portrait, but I couldn't find one.  I resemble a chunky peeled potato, except with freckles, wrinkles, age spots, and fading hair. And glasses. Pretty.

Hey! I did find a bit of Spring porn - here's some forsythia.

And the sunset tonight.

And lastly - how to wrap your cat.  I think something is wrong with this cat.  I've never seen a cat that was so docile.

  1. Wow! You really ought to try to get some voice over work. That sounds like fun. Your self portrait is great. I seriously doubt that you look like it, but it is very whimsical. I also wear glasses, trifocals! I do not function without them. I love your forsythia pictures. You are enough south of me that your stuff is blooming a week or so ahead. Oh yeah, some teachers wear necklaces with critters, sweaters with all kinds of cutesy things on them, long shapeless jumpers, etc....Those are usually the K - 3rd grade teachers though. Their kids love it.

  3. Interesting. I also am blind as a bat without my glasses, which I have worn since 1964; I am often asked if I teach school; and I was one of the readers yesterday morning at church. Is this one of those Rod Serling moments or what??

Coming to Palmetto Tat Days this summer??
