Pineapple Heaven Doily Finished

Finished - finally! I am done with Doretha Albee's Pineapple Heaven Doily!

Here it is before blocking.

Blocking in progress. Lotsa pins.

Finished.  See the pineapples?

And in its resting place in my living room, with the picture of my maternal grandmother. She taught me to tat, and I think she'd be very pleased. FYI - this is tatted in Lizbeth size 20 Dusty Rose Lt (621).

One other note - the pattern has an error in round 8. The pattern says
Round 8:
Tat shell as directed above.
CH 5 *twist long picot of previous round 2 times and join to it.
CH 1 -(3/8" long) 1 repeat from * 3 more times.
Twist long picot of previous round 2 times and join to it. CH 5. RW
Repeat around.
There are no long picots created in this round. It should read:
Round 8:
Tat shell as directed above.
CH 5 *twist long picot of previous round 2 times and join to it.
CH 1 - 1 repeat from * 3 more times.
Twist long picot of previous round 2 times and join to it. CH 5. RW
Repeat around.
It's a fun tat, if anyone wants to try it!

  3. I think you did a wonderful job with this doily! It reminds me of the doilies that my Mom and Aunt Alice used to crochet.

  4. That is so beautiful. I am sure you are glad it is finished. I crochet Pineapple doilies but do not tat them. Congrats for finishing it.

  5. I was inspired by you to tat this doily at the same time as you and found it most frustrating. I did find the error before I started Round 8 even so the thing nearly went out of the window on several occasions. It is finished now although I haven't yet finished the end or blocked it. Hope it looks as good as yours when I do Thanks for directing me to the pattern.

  7. It's gorgeous! If I hadn't read that it was tatted and got to see the close ups, I would swear it was crocheted. I like to tat and want to do more....

  8. What a marvelous outcome! This is the first tatted pineapple doily I have ever seen and it sure is pretty.

Wondering what would happen if a broomstick tatting technique were substituted for the twisted picots...(not that I would have any idea how to make such a substitution, mind you).

Martha Ess, are you reading? If so, would such a thing even be possible?

  11. Well done!

(There are some days when I wonder: how in the world did I get involved with a tatting blogger?!)
